JOURNAL WRITING- THE POWER OF SELF TALK

One Notebook A Pen And Just

15 Minutes A Day Can Change Your Life

 Introduction-
Hello how are you all I am Mentor Yogi and I have a question to ask today. Have you ever talked to the most important person in your life. Well the question before answering this previous question is that- “who is the most important person in your life?”. What do you think about it- father, mother, sister or lover or a friend. No, no one is as important in your life as you. I mean to say that you are the most important person of your life. But the original question is- have you ever talked to that person. If not until now then I will tell you the way to do it everyday and easily. And trust me that single thing can bring revolutionary changes in your lives. So let’s begin to talk about that way, we call this as JOURNAL.

What is it?
It’s the easiest and truest way (if you want) to stay connected to your true self, to the best version of yourself. Journal Writing is sometime called the act of thinking while writing. It is very similar to dairy writing but the difference is that in journal we can include everything and is not always written in a past form but it also have future as well as present tenses too.  Journals are usually written by making a balance between our mind and our heart. For a better understanding of journal I am providing you with one of my daily written journal (my writing is too weird so you have to make some extra efforts to be able to read it).

Why Journal Writing Is So Great-
In my opinion it’s a great habit to keep in touch of yourself and as you already know every resources you need is within you. So journal Writing help you in turning your attention inward within you so that so will be benefited with all the rich resources you have and which are just waiting for a spark to come out and serve you.

The Story Of My Journal Writing-
As of now I can’t tell you the exact date or exact way through which I entered into this world but a haze memory of me take me to the year 2015 when I was in my 10th standard. At that time I have a very strange chapter in Hindi book. The chapter is written in such a manner that even after 3 reading I was confused of the exact story of the chapter. But the beauty of that chapter was it’s literature. As of then I was a chap who loves to copy strange things. So what I did is start writing in the same strange fashion as the author had written in the chapter. The writings were so confusing that sometime even I fails to predict the meaning of them. Maybe Tushar ( my friend) can tell us better what they actually are as he was the only reader (infact forced reader) of these writings at that time.
Time rolled on quickly like this and there comes the year 2017 when I was in my serious most state to prepare for the 12th board. In that year I changed my medium of writing from hindi to english as to prepare for english exam. Because it was very difficult to continue in the same strange way of writing in english like I used to do in hindi reason being I have a very weak vocabulary and very less grammar sense so I feel it better to write it the other way and that other way was these journals (although I came to know about it later). So in that strange way my journal writing journey started but I was very unfrequent in writing journal at first, I sometime write continuously for days but then missed the whole next week.
The turn come in the story when I bought the second rough notebook after joining the college. You will probably laugh at me for that clue, a rough copy, how is it possible but that’s true, I will explain you how. No actually it was not the rough notebook but the quote inscribed on the front of it that changed the way. So are you excited to read that quote- “ Your Brain Is Made For Generating Ideas And Not For Storing Them, So Write them Down And Make Space For Another One To Come”. Really that quote still raises my hair as I read it. After that rough notebook I started writing journals on a daily basis the reason being the quote and my eyes who always fall prey to that quote. I still continues to write that revolutionary quote on every rough notebook front page as a stimuli for journal writing. And I think that’s the end of the ever continuing story of my journal writing. Thanks to these journals as they gave me many colours of life and these blogs which you are reading now too is a fruit of these journals. So thanks them (my journals) again as they helped me in every situation of my life.

Motivation And Clarity-
Two things that are most important for our goal are motivation and clarity. Most of the people thought that it is motivation in which they are lacking but in actual it is the lack of clarity of the goal that is swallowing them. We are not cleared of our goal most of the time. And because of this we struggle to make things happen. But the good news is that we can clarify our goal better with that weapon- Journal. That’s why that thing is so great. I will try to better explain this with an example. We often promises to ourselves that I am going to workout everyday, I will read some books and I will study hard now and that happens most when we are in our full motivational swing like on a New Year or after getting a horrific result or after someone make you realize that you need to improve. And a look at all these factors is enough to tell us that we fails most of the time to sustain the result because all these factors that motivates us are external one . That’s a common story of everyone even I too a part of that story. Journalism on the other hand help us to sustain at our goal by clearing the blurness over the goal. Let's understand it the very last way. You see Sandeep Maheswari video in which he is motivating the public by saying that- “ Apne andar ki aag paida karo, har rooz apne aap se kho- mujhe kuch karna hai, mujhe kuch karna hai……..” (I have no aim to criticize Maheswariji here). The motivation and your heart rate will definately rise after listening all these but only for some hours or maximum for some 2 or 3 days but what after that you again die out of your motivation that happens because we are totally unaware of our goal and the only thing we know is we have to do something but what it is. This is not so with the journal writing. And this is the best answer of your why for a reason to start writing Journals.

Advantages of Journal Writing-
1) Journal As A Stress Management Tool- journal in fact can help us in taking us out of stressed situation. I too use my journals whenever I feel stressed, anxious and the most unfortunate person of the world. We can do this by positively talking to ourselves and let  all the morn and anxiety to come out which you prefer not to tell anybody.
2) Motivation Factor- journals help us in peeping through our potential and our aim and then to prepare a system to make that aim a reality, so that we can take sufficient actions. Then we take actions as we have system. We succeed and reach near to our goal. Every action help us in motivating to take the next one. In fact actions are the biggest motivator of our life. So although indirectly but yes journals give us a permanent source of motivation.
3) Journals As Management Tool- As I have stated above that journals help us in preparing system and thus to manage ourselves. For an example I want to share a part of my journal- “I will post my journal blog on 15th but for that I need to prepare the whole blog by 13th but as on 13th I have my exam so I need to be done with my blog by 14th and for that I need to roughly prepare all the contents by 11th and for that I need to choose all the concerned topics by 9th and for that by 8th I need to study all the topics deeply. Have you understand all this? (I am talking to myself here)”. And you know I am writing all these things in my journal on 5th of November. So isn’t it amagzing?
4) Journals As Feedback Box- feedbacks are really very important in your lives if you want to progress in any of your work. Like you can take feedback on your performance in the sports and can ask you where you are going wrong in the play or you can use it to better understand your habit loop that make you to addict to your phone and waste time. You can take feedbacks on your performance to achieve your goal and in many many ways like these you can use your journal to give you feedbacks and in improving your performance.
5) Journals As The Solution To Every problem- problems are a part of our life we cannot escape them but we can beat them by finding a solution. Journals in particular provides us the space for better understanding the problem and hence creating a better opportunity for a solution. That’s why whenever a problem comes to me I always say him these words- “Meet me during the journal writing and I will certainly beat you.”
Note- all these advantages have a meaning only when you are serious and true in writing a journal. So it’s all up to you how good you are using your journal.

The Last Guide For A Quick Start- as of now I am assuming that you are all cleared with the concept of Journal writing and now ready to write one. So here is the quick guide for you to start your journal writing journey in a better way although it need not to strictly cling this guide, you can write it in your way and what convinces you. And that’s the beauty of journal writing.
1) Set Up Cravings- setting up cravings is very important if you want to do that thing everyday. If you are like me who blows instantly as I read a revolutionary thought. That’s why I had wrote that quote in the front of my rough notebook. Even add others too which you really think can work wonders in your life.
2) Prepare Your Weapons- pick up your favourite notebook and a pen that really writes smoothly and you are all set to write a journal only if you have 15 silent undisturbed minutes of your life to spend on.
3) Prepare an Index- well, I used that word index because I found no other word to write. So at the very first page write down the list of all the points on which you are going to write daily. Like-
I will include-
My future ambitions
My plan for study better
How I am making me better day by day
What are the good lessons I have learnt today etc.
4) Make A Collection- when you are done with writing journals for a month then it’s the time to read all of them one by one. Make a collection of all the journals which are really great and that can help you in the future too to make things understand clearly. This thing will give you the motivation and satisfaction.

The Last Words-
The topic from my side is ended but not the task. I have done only the half task and it’s all your responsibility to end up the rest half. Go and pick up the notebook and pen now and write whatever your brain ordered you to write, as I wrote earlier don’t think about your grammar and weak vocabulary just write. This is the only right time to take the action. Do it before you forget about it.
